Dr. Shufflebarger, DVM
Dr. Shufflebarger knew from an early age that her love of animals would lead her to a career in veterinary medicine. She grew up surrounded by dogs and fostered cats and kittens throughout veterinary school. Despite being allergic to many animals, she never let that stand in the way of pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Dr. Shufflebarger earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2004 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 2008. She practiced veterinary medicine in Colorado Springs for six years before returning to her hometown of Fort Collins.
Dr. Shufflebarger enjoys caring for patients through every stage of life. Her professional interests include internal medicine, preventive wellness care, soft tissue surgery, and compassionate end-of-life care. As Medical Director, she is also passionate about supporting her veterinary team and helping create a positive, collaborative environment for both staff and clients.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Shufflebarger enjoys spending time with her husband, Jason, and their children, Emery and Landon. Their household also includes three cats—Geek, Groot, and Rocket—as well as rats and fish. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, pickleball, snowboarding, and playing board games with her family.
Dr. Joya, DVM
Dr. Joya was born and raised in Colorado Springs. She attended CSU where she
completed her undergraduate degree in Equine Science in 2008, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She started out practicing in southern Wyoming in a mixed animal practice working on cows, horses, dogs, and cats. She moved back to Colorado to be closer to her family and has been focusing on small animal medicine since then.
Her main veterinary interests include pain management, palliative care, and diagnostic
imaging.
Most of her free time is spent exploring the outdoors and spending time with her
menagerie of animals including her dogs (Homer, Angler, Gordita, and Chalupa), cat
(Winston) and horse (Nugget). She also sings with the Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers and in her downtime can be found reading or doing a puzzle.
Dr. Min, DVM
Dr. Min has lived in several countries throughout her life, which has shaped her appreciation for communication and connection across cultures. She knew she wanted to become a veterinarian after realizing that you don’t need to speak the same language to form a meaningful connection with an animal. She especially enjoys building relationships with pets and their families and working together to help each patient live a healthier, happier life.
Dr. Min completed her bachelor’s degree in Biology, Masters in Toxicology, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University. She then completed a one-year rotating internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital, where she gained experience caring for a wide variety of patients and medical conditions.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Min enjoys spending time with her cats, cooking Korean food, and traveling
Dr. Miller, DVM
Joining us October 12th!
Dr. Miller was born and raised in Rhode Island where she developed her love for horses and was first inspired to go to vet school. She received her bachelor’s degree in Equine Science from the University of New Hampshire in 2017, followed by her Doctorate in
Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2022. During her time as an undergraduate, she also spent two summers living and working in Yellowstone National Park which sparked her love for all things outdoors.
Since graduating from CSU, Dr. Miller has been practicing and in Northern Colorado where she has been sharing her passion for preventative and hospice care, dentistry, and forming meaningful relationships with clients and their pets.
In her free time, Dr. Miller enjoys snowboarding, paddle boarding, watching football, and going to concerts with her husband, Austin, and their dog, Mac (pictured).
